Larry Lohman Visits Chicago!

Larry Lohmann is a founding member of the Durban Group for Climate Justice and editor of Carbon Trading: A Critical Conversation on Climate Change, Privatization and Power.  During his recent visit to Chicago, Larry spoke with more than 500 people about the importance of investing in clean, renewable energy and efficiency instead of market-based carbon trading.

Mr. Lohmann's well-researched position on carbon trading indicates that it:

  • Is NOT effective.  Greenhouse gas emissions are on the rise.

  • Delays the move away from fossil fuels, a non-renewable and depleting source of energy, to clean, renewable energy such as solar, wind and geothermal energy.

  • Promotes programs that both harm people, often displacing them from ancestral lands, and often degrades the environment.
